The first few years of my school life, was in Calcutta Girls High school. The maroon uniform, dear old Mrs.Major(and her german shepherd), my first red school box(not bag), the crowded streets of moulali, the school buses run by a gentleman called H B Sarkar....and ofcourse my first friends!
The school bus would pick us up at 7:00am sharp, and it would be a long bus drive from Lake town to moulali. I still remember every stop that we made en-route to school.A very distinct memory of my 3-4 yrs tryst with Calcutta Girls, was the fatal day of 1983, when Indira Gandhi was shot dead in delhi. Me and a whole lotta others walked our way home....not something I would forget in a hurry.Anybody around the same school as mine? Lets hear from you.

Welcome to my blogworld
To all the beautiful people of Kolkata, and the Global Calcuttan!
This blog is all about Calcutta, its heart and soul. It is about the Writers Building and the goodies which are sold around it, about the giant lions guarding the governor house, the water-logging and how we love wading through it, the intellectual harikiri, the hooghly river in its grandeur, the Oh-so lovely fish markets.....You name it, and we shall have it.
We shall endeavour to build a community of like minded "Kolkatan's", no matter where you are. And talk of all things which are true to the city and its culture.
See you all!
